Should You Kiss After A First Date?

Ok so should you kiss on a first date?

Some people have a hard and fast rule that they won’t kiss on a first date no matter what while others think it’s a bad sign if you don’t get a kiss at the end of a date.

My thoughts? It’s totally up to you! If you’re comfortable on the date, vibing with that person and it feels right then go for it! But if that feels too soon for you and you want to set that boundary, then you have every right to say no. Kissing after a first date should not make or break the outcome of a second date.

A little tip? If you’re liking the guy but have a boundary set of no kissing, then when he goes in for a kiss just be a little flirty and say something like “not because I don’t want to, trust me I do but I don’t kiss on a first date, it's a little rule I set for myself”. This way he knows that you’re into it and it’s not an actual rejection.

Now, if you feel like the date is going well and you want a kiss but the guy doesn’t make a move, I wouldn’t worry too much if that’s a sign of how the date went. I think as women, we tend to forget how much pressure it can be on a guy to make that first move. He could be nervous, unsure if you’re into it, wants to be respectful and not cross any boundaries. Lots of different reasons. So if it doesn’t happen, don’t worry. You will know soon enough if he is into you if you hear from him and he asks you out on a second date.

I would also make an effort on the next date to show that you are interested through holding eye contact, touching his leg and just generally being more touchy feely. This will give him the green light to make a move without worrying about your interest in him.

Just remember, everyone is different! I’ve heard of people kissing in the middle of a first date and people not kissing until a third date. It’s truly what feels right for you in the moment.
